Right of Way for 5G

This write up is about a policy decision on “right of way” – managing a complex federal structure, and a subcontinent like India is a bureaucratic nightmare. However, there is some sagacity in policy decision-making, and an understanding that 5G roll out requires a clean pathway.

I had written earlier about the portal and here’s a little update:

Govt Amends ‘Right Of Way’ Rules To Enable Faster 5G Roll Out; Telcos Can Now Deploy 5G Small Cells On Existing Street Infra

These amendments will pave the way for deployment of 5G small cells on existing street infrastructure. With these series of reforms, the country is now ready for launch of 5G services by October 2022, a Ministry of Communications release said.

I hope the roll out is accelerated!
