I am in love with automation. I use a lot of services that help me to speed up my workflows. For example, this blog. The blog posts go to Twitter automatically. Therefore, I find it easier to focus on writing and I don’t move a muscle to market it. All the growth has happened “organically”.
Even the articles/links result from the community powered upvotes from Hacker News and I get the updated feeds of the most voted/commented articles every 30 minutes. Here’s something from the author of the original post that sparked this idea.
Why automate?
Time is one of the most valuable resources in the world. If there was something you could do to free more time for yourself, why wouldn’t you? When I automate myself out of a task I transfer the burden of doing said task to some other script, service, API, or a combination of all of these.
I have written previously on email (I recommend and use Fastmail), and RSS feeds (through Inoreader). These are highly recommended services and do a thorough analysis to understand the nuances of usage.
