How to be productive: Lowering the barrier for “activation energy”

Last but not least, lower the barrier for achieving productivity nirvana:

Achor described the importance of minimizing what he calls “activation energy,” or the amount of effort it takes to get from doing nothing to doing whatever it is you’re trying to accomplish…..

The success of his new strategy led Achor to develop something called the 20-second rule. “Lowering the barrier to change by just 20 seconds was all it took to help me form a new life habit,” he wrote. It’s a little hokey — and Achor himself acknowledges that there’s no one universal magic number for everyone, or every habit.

Resolutions may be a path towards self-betterment, but they’re easiest to keep when you build them around an honest acknowledgement of your own unconquerable flaws.

Being mindful and aware of the limitations is often helpful to improve upon the productivity index. This approach comes with mindfulness (which in turn comes from our attention management) and of course, minimising the digital distractions by breaking bad habits and keeping things simple.
