I am closely looking at the “evolution” of the e-cigarettes. It is sheer stupidity to allow them in the first place.
Despite whatever the “studies” may show- these lower the threshold for smoking. It is difficult, if not impossible, to prove the associations but it remains messy. The solution is, perhaps, more radical- an outright ban. However, a lot of money is at stake on both sides of the divide.
The San Francisco startup last year stopped sales of such flavors—including mango, fruit and cucumber—in bricks-and-mortar stores but had until now continued to sell them on its website, which has age controls. Juul’s online sales represent less than 10% of its revenue. In the first half of 2019, Juul had $1.27 billion in global revenue, including more than $100 million outside the U.S., according to people familiar with the matter.
Juul is the e-cigarette market leader, accounting for 64% of e-cigarette sales in retail stores, and has been blamed for a rise in underage vaping. The company is under investigation by the Food and Drug Administration, the Federal Trade Commission and federal prosecutors in California.
